The minutes of the February meeting were approved.
Public Access
Loring Bemis, Jefferson County’s Facilities Director, presented to the Board the detailed plans for the redesign of the accessible doors on the Cass Street side of the Courthouse. The Board acknowledges that the plans appear to meet ADA guidelines and officially approves of the plans as presented.
The Board discussed impressions of the recent meeting with CAO, Paula Dowdle; CEO, Mike Glenn; and Commissioner, Tony DeLeo of Jefferson Health Care. The representatives of JHC were quite aware of the significant shortcomings of the Hospital site for pedestrians. They reported that the Hospital is currently formulating a Site Plan for the Hospital campus, which would include not only the exterior but also improved signage inside the buildings. DASH Board members emphasized potential quick fixes which would coordinate with the new sidewalk to be installed along Sheridan Street. All present at the meeting agreed to coordinate efforts as the date for installation of the City’s new sidewalk draws closer.
Pat reported that the Non-Motorized Transportation Board Draft to the Plan Supplement of 1998 will be presented to the Planning Commission and to the City Council within the next two months. She recommended that any Board members who are able should stress the importance of ADA compliance for bike lanes, sidewalks and multi-use trails during public comment at these meetings.
Treasury/Fundraising
Bonnie reported that the current fund balance is $1,655.04.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:55 pm.
Next meeting, Tuesday, April 5, 2011.
